Chairman of the Board

Christer Osterling joined the Jaycees almost nine years ago and has served the Greater Hartford Jaycees on many different levels. In 1999, Christer chaired his first project, coordinating the Greater Hartford Jaycees’ volunteers for the local Special Olympics.

In 2000, Christer stepped up to be on the Board of Directors and went on to serve the Greater Hartford Jaycees Foundation as Public Relations Director in 2003. He is also active with the Travelers Championship, having served on their Executive Committee four times, chairing Security, Personnel, Scoring and Special Events.

In 2005, Christer made the jump to the state level, taking on the role of Individual Development Vice President and in 2006, served the state as the Management Development Vice President. He was elected President in the fall of 2006.

Christer is employed as Director of Communications at Association Resources, a West Hartford-based association management company, which manages the daily affairs of non-profits around the world. Christer manages the marketing and public relations programs of some of their clients and is also responsible for the overall management of two Web sites.

Christer is a 1998 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, where he majored in Communications and minored in Journalism. In addition to the Jaycees, he is also an active member of American Mensa and the Public Relations Society of America.

As President, Christer’s goals are to fan the flames of enthusiasm, increase retention and promote collaboration amongst chapters statewide. This looks to be an exciting year as the 2007 Board of Directors are young and energetic and looking to make a difference!
